Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

You are right: a day off is a day off. And people have the right to have plans and refuse to come to work. But there is an important sign here: one Atco accepted the recall in Liège: it clearly shows that some don't agree with the movement. Hats off to that person! Indeed, but this kind of situatio...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

There used to be no stand-by shifts at all during years because management and controllers couldn't agree on how to put a system in place and what the conditions would be. Now they have stand-by(s) for some shifts, not for others. So yes, if nobody is willing to come, then Atco's who have called si...

Re: Air Belgium in 2019

Why risk losing money on scheduled routes flying half empty planes when you can make money on ACMI contracts... and with summer season starting soon and the MAX grounded till who knows when I would think more airlines will be needing to lease in planes... Replacing a MAX by a 340 doesn't make sense...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

2 calling sick out of 5 for the whole ACC? Or per side (east / west? Controllers are not obliged to accept a recall if they don’t feel like. So if someone calls sick and nobody (who is at home) picks up the phone, that’s it... Is there nobody on standby then? If someone falls sick, they have to cou...

So only 2 sick ATCO’s and absolutely no back-up available to replace them, if I understand correctly?

Let’s hope that those who called sick will get better soon.
Just to have an idea, how many have to call sick to create that lack of staff?

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

I really don't understand why the Skeyes management remains extremely polite in their reply to the sabotage by both the trade unions and the atco's. And where is minister Bellot, by the way? It seems he's unaware that there is huge problem ongoing for Belgian aviation. You really don’t understand t...

When is the 737-800 coming back from the USA?
Thank you :-)
Not one, but four 737-800s are leased to the US and Canada. Normally they come back at the end of the winter season.

Not four, but eight 737-800s are leased to the US and Canada.

I guess you mean « treat », not « threat »... Perfect example of nitpicking  You definitely haven’t read anything, obviously. This Belgocontrol is a national disgrace! Time to put an end to that farce.
What do you suggest, then?
A new management?
Fire them all?
Put the military instead?

Be serious for a second. And read the previous long posts in this topic.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX crashes between Addis Ababa and Nairobi - Impact on Boeing 737 MAX

As a non-specialist, I don't see the logics in this. Is a ferried plane less likely to experience the same problem as in the 2 fatal accidents? Or is the life of pilots not as worthy as that of pax? Are the ferrying pilots better that those who so unfortunately died in those accidents? Can someone ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2019

Well, charleroi-new york could certainly work. Make it continue to tel aviv and your booking system will overheat. With SN, DL and UA on the market? No sir. Yes sir, those airlines pay big money to use BRU, when its actually useless. The last SN flight i took from TLV, it was 99% of american people...

Re: 2 vs 3 pilots on Long haul!!!

Hi Checking out videos on YouTube, I see Swiss uses 2 pilots on a 10 hour flight to Miami from Zurich, whereas air France uses 3 from wuhan to Paris. Are 2 pilots on long hail common? Thanks Yes, it's quite common. Cockpit crew composition depend on many factors, such as: - Flight duration (of cour...

Re: Air traffic control service skeyes to strike in the evenings and nights of 12 & 13 March

The thing is; clueless people only see salary and close their eyes for all the rest.
Not sure they are aware of the salaries of ATCO's in other countries either. Belgium is probably lower, as always.
