Re: VLM Airlines (Brussels, ex-Thomas Cook) news 2018

They seem to be running a rather stable ACMI operation (in silence)? I also noticed on the "moniteur" that they received a significant capital injection in june. Could they have a chance to survive?

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

Mr Bellot is from Rochefort in the Ardennes (also down-to-earth people) and doesn't give a damn about the MR electorate in Brussels. And the normal procedure for working for the State is a call for tender. Really? You can be sure that he already received some calls from the MR electorate in La Capi...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

I had the opportunity to discuss with Mr Bellot. He is an engineer by education, and thus very pragmatic. He tries to solve problems in a rational way, by sequences. He had started to find a panel of international experts to give him a neutral opinion about the BRU noise issue. Only one company had...

Of course they are. Let's not get started on the "Flemish" political parties in Brussels. Ever heard of the "Flamand de service?"

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

To be clear if we can find a reasonable solution to keep the night flights it would be great everybody wants to keep the jobs here... But it's impossible to let the night flights after the day flights take off over Evere,Schaarbeek and Woluwe it's simply has this. Sure Brussels has to take his part...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

Sure we are, but that doesn't mean there's no place for a discussion with reasonable arguments from both sides. Start playing the man instead of the game, though, and you're out. Reasonable arguments: Brussels needs an airport and has all advantages of this airport. As such they will also share the...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

Keep this discussion civilised, and don't start attacking one another. First and final warning. Wasn't this forum pro-aviation, pro-airport and more importantly pro airport jobs? These people can go elsewhere with their counter-productive and fake arguments. I find the very offensive for the airpor...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

I just propose what was already done in other airports...for my part you can buy or isolated houses here in Brussels but it will be very expensive.... And yes it's not because I'm not with the mainstream I can not give my opinion..... And CDG,LHR or San Francisco or even AMS are in less densely pop...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

I also proposed some solutions.... I don't think it's black or white there are a lot of city's that refused the DHL hub for those reasons. Do we chose for or quality of life or economic expansion it's a discussion....knowing that we live in a very densely populated area. LHR, LAX, CDG, SIN, AMS, SX...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

A good news at least...but don't build the airport too close to the shore, water is raising fast... Oh, take it easy. One can understand an epidermic reaction from people hearing for years from their representatives that Brussels is the one and only ugly duckling. What is admirable in this country ...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

It's a very risky choice for them, 'cause the bill wil grow every day, and they know for sure that, soon or later, they will be condemned to pay, hence the tax is completely legal. For the rest of your props I do fully agree. You know what Crosswind? We’ll give in. We’ll totally follow the proposal...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

As well as Brussels REgio has the right to fine all aircraft overflying his terriroty (the dB limit is really soft, by the way). But is this a solution ? I hope all airlines refuse to pay the fines (like they did in the past). Just imagine you are driving along a road which has a sign with a speed ...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

Really? Any idea why only +/- 3000 Brussels residents work at the airport? (at least we could give them a job and are happy to employ them. We will hire more, if they satisfy the conditions). You know that this rhetoric could be turned around? Traffic to from Brussels on motorways, water quality of...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation

Now let's be fair, Sean. Flanders has most of the jobs at the airport (WAL: 2400, BRU: 3000, VL:14600, data from Brussels Airport); Flanders has most of the economic benefits; Flanders represents probably also most of the Belgian travellers. Why wouldn't Flanders have most of the noise as well, in ...
