Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

That train story is complete bull***** for me. Have done this a couple of times with Air France through CDG -> never again. There are sufficient options elsewhere to avoid a train to AMS or CDG to reach your destination... The train as a feeder service to a nearby major airport does make sense, but...

Re: Lufthansa in 2019

Is LH going to do what SR did ? Invest in loss making airlines ? (and turning one of the most powerful airline, like SR before they lost their minds, into a disastrous enterprise ?). Well, Namibia is a former German colony. Says a lot, no ?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

As to SN keeping IAD all year round if I understood correctly... well, weren't many of us hoping for an evening flight to NYC (instead of SN to IAD and ??? UA to IAH ?). Seeing SN's network (African wave is in the morning) and the fact that it is pointless for them to enter the cut-throat low reven...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Ok, let me explain. As you probably knows, BAC bought the Sheraton in front of the airport some time ago. Real Estate is a big part of the airports portfolio. Two major reasons for this: the hotel has most of the time full capacity, sold out and second, when you are owner of it, you can do with it ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Dear Atlantis, As long as we have fast, efficient and hassle-free luggage handling, smiling employees even if you dare speaking french, no 2 kilometers queues when we land at 7.30 am from the US, that will do for our passenger well-being. I already know "THE" excuse "it's not us, it's Swissport or ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Fairly obvious swap ! AC still to YUL, but leaving BRU in the afternoon. Why not ? AC acquired Air Transat, didn't they ?

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

A fair ranking. I never said (or wanted to stay) that BRU is a terrible airport. I think that if one re-reads my posts, one will realize that I have basically two main criticisms towards BRU : 1. The closing of the former drop off zone (which imho is not necessary at all), the new temporary drop off...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

OK, things are happening at BRU. OK, not everything is done by the BRU/BAC itself. My concerns and criticisms focus on what BRU/BAC can do alone. What is being done, or better : what is not being done, to me, clearly shows the lack of consideration of BRU/BAC/A.F. for the airport's main customers an...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

One more time. It's a joke or "suicid squad" ? How is possible ? 2 consecutive days Please LH, make SN great and attractive. I pray for this, hopefull for september. [joke : on] You can call Air Belgium to operate this fly. OO-ABB is free in CRL ? [joke : off] Maybe KLM's PH-AOB (also A330-200) can...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

According to CS you have to make a profit first before you are entitled to new investments. Remember ?
So far for the level playing field and for those who still believe what the guy says.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

I am just wondering if an insider could tell us (without revealing any corporate "secrets") if this is just a series of technical problems due to "back luck" (this usually happens only in really under-developped countries) or if it is something else... Air Afrique (when it still existed, was nicknam...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

To some extent, I agree with you. When BAC/BRU/A.F. announce changes, it usually takes years to concretize (if it does). Perhaps, I have been lucky, but I cannot really complain about baggage delivery. It's usually OK. Certainly, when you have to walk back from one of the last gates... Passport cont...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

A variation on what I have said before : LH/CS are waiting to get rid of SN one way or the other. The only symbolic thing we can do, is try and avoid flying LH/LX/OS. Very sad !!!

Re: Lufthansa in 2019

I presume that Air Dolomiti is making substantial profits since LH has invested 100M in them and the fleet will more than double. (Or are they just "something else" to LH ?). I tried to find some financial info on them on the internet, but without success. Does anybody know more about it ? Any expla...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

And they are not helped even by their group partners. I got a targeted email from LX last week to fly between BRU and NYC, WAS or BOS with them. SN offers 2 of those destinations. The whole LH Group organisation is a mess. I just saw a Tweet from a frequent flyer saying " Ahh the delights of bookin...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

I agree with practically everything you say. However, the Dutch railway system is not much better than the Belgian. Only, the Dutch have no strong "strike" culture. So, it all seems to be better, when it isn't always. As to Schiphol, the Dutch and especially KLM don't want to admit that AMS is FULL ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

I already said that I am not a big fan of Schiphol, but that the airport is basically OK. Spokespersons for any "organisation/company" are trained, when there is a (major) problem to communicate, but also to practically say nothing with substance in it. It reminds me of a joke on Manuel Barroso, the...
