Re: Eurowings in 2019

Eurowings also applies for a blanket statement of authorisation to display the two-letter OS designator code of Austrian Airlines on Eurowings flights between the EU and the US. Any other one? The two-letter code SN of Brussels Airlines for example? Unfortunately, the answer might be fairly easy. S...

about the 737Max: if they can get them at a huge discount and all the problems are dealt with, there is no problem for LH ;)
LH will sent the first batch to the Brussels base of EW ! For once, Brussels would get brand new aircraft ! One would wonder why !
(please, forgive the irony).

Re: BRU Summer 2019: news, new routes, airlines

Dear Atlantis ! I know that Budapest is the capital of Hungary and Prague the capital of the Czech Republic. And Brussels the capital of Belgium (and Flanders). As far as I know, LOT flies from BUD to NYC and Chicago only and they have one 787 "based" at BUD to operate these flights. But just as I m...

In this case, the "sponsors" will be SN's Marketing Department ! I'm astonished you had not realised that !

Re: Planning of petition "retro livery"

I'm not sure if Austrain's retro livery is better... It's a question of taste... I'm not in favour of Sabena livery on Brussels Airlines metal. However, when LH/CS talk of keeping a Belgian touch when SN is being integrated into EW, I would suggest that every aircraft entering the "SN" fleet from no...

Re: BRU Summer 2019: news, new routes, airlines

LOT is filling the gap left a few years ago by Malev between BUD BRU vv. But their flights overlap/duplicate to some extent those offered by SN. I don't really see the point, but perhaps I'm missing something.
Ironically, some of the SN flights will be operated with Czech Airlines metal :?

Re: Eurowings in 2019

According to De Tijd/L'Echo, Eurowings posted a loss over 2018 as was already reported by LH in today's press release, but Brussels Airlines itself was profitable, before consolidation into Eurowings: https://www.tijd.be/ondernemen/luchtvaart/brussels-airlines-winstgevend-eurowings-zwaar-in-het-roo...

Lufthansa Group says that the allocation of the new aircraft among its airlines will be decided later.
Just another lie only the naive will believe. Just another lie to keep "us" (Belgians) quiet. Slowly but surely the erosion will affect SN.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Somewhat reassuring news at https://www.7sur7.be/7s7/fr/1536/Econom ... ines.dhtml stating that SN result is positive but of course shall improve. I fear that SN's performance will never be good enough for LH. As far as I know EW has been losing money so far. So, if the consolidated EW/SN figures a...

Re: European 'environment tax' on aviation?

And if that is contrary to a convention made in 1944, it is high time to re-negotiate that one. The world has changed a lot since 1944, and is bound to change more. The Chicago convention is most important, but it is not carved in stone. (And neither is any forbiting it :) ) I agree with you, but e...

Re: KLM to end flights between Amsterdam and Brussels?

As Michael O'Leary said at today's A4E Aviation Summit in Brussels (without KLM CEO Pieter Elbers reacting), this is an artificial limitation made to protect KLM, which has all the slots it wants. I tend to disagree. I don't think the limitation is artificial. Schiphol is vol. KL would like to expa...

As to other big polluters, what about cruise ships ? Cruises are increasingly popular and cheap and I don't want to imagine how much these ships and their guests pollute !

Re: European 'environment tax' on aviation?

From what I understand, the tax exemption for kerosene in the airline industry dates back to 1944 when the Chicago Convention was adopted, inter alia, to promote international air traffic. The Convention does not apparently mention any exemption for domestic flights. Some say the question should be ...

Re: KLM to end flights between Amsterdam and Brussels ?

The present solution offered by AF is far from ideal : https://www.airfrance.be/BE/en/common/resainfovol/services/baggage-drop-off-CDG.htm I presume they had to stop the check-in to the final destination from Brussels-South for security reasons. The problem with the train is that often there is not ...

Re: The Netherlands buy a 12.8% share in Air France-KLM Group

It was a sensible move from KL. They were right in doing so. However, one thing they don't seem to understand or don't want to understand is that Schiphol is "vol", there is hardly any room for expansion at AMS, be is for KL or other airlines. Consequently, growth in the AF-KL Group will mainly, if ...

Finally, people realize/admit that with LH, we have been for some time already in a Sabena/Swissair scenario exposed by some forum members already a while ago.
