Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
"Upgrading" any UA TATL routes to the 777-300 would be a severe downgrade in comfort for the passengers. So I hope that they won't do that nor that they would deploy the 787 to BRU which would also be a downgrade in terms of comfort. Actually I don't find the UA787 too bad. Ok, there is l...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
I might be wrong but SN already has soms planes that stay overnight at other airports. Last year I was in Bilbao for a conference and the plane stayed during the night.

They 'll loose everything either way. Their initial investment is a sunk cost.
Or they invest or they loose everything....

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Am I the only one who does not really like this livery? It is really too much for me. I am probably a little conservative, but I prefer more sober, less kitsch liveries (eurowhites, or; if special; things like the 'All Black"-livery of Air New Zealand). To me the Tintin, Trident, and Tomorrowla...

I agree. The same would apply for Innsbruck and Salzburg for example during winter in my opinion.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Maybe a stupid question but is there a chance that the A340-600 fleet of LH could be transferred to Brussels Airlines? Looks a good plane to me for SN with a lot of play load and a cheap one, maybe it's just me because a love to fly with it. Some things I really like is the window in the toilet...a...

I think it is easier to move the asylum center than expropriate citizens (at least politically).

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
It might be too simplistic, but why not extend the taxiway at the other side (south) of the runway. This means that the planes cross the runway while taxiing, but that is very common on a lot of airports. Then no houses will need to dissapear?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Shouldn't SN think about adding Embraer or Bombardier to their fleet. If the AVROs are phased out, they will need some smaller planes for the smaller destinations? They could also use this kind of planes to try out new routes, like Innsbruck, Salzburg...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
Thanks for the fast response! Too bad imo. The funds of American or Gulf carriers could make SN a true success story. Hopefully LH will think twice before giving up the Brussels brand.Stij wrote:>50% has to be EU...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
It might be a long shot..., but is the rest a rules that European airlines have to be European owned? If not, why wouldn''t any of the Gulf carriers or United airlines be interested in creating a European hub by buying SN?

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
Apart from the discussion about the viability of such a route for SN, it would be GREAT to be able to fly directly from BRU to the US west coast! It reduces travel time with about 30 per cent. I fly multiple times a year to the west coast and the I would prefer to fly directly even if it costs a bi...

I beg to differ. San Francisco might not be as large as NY but in the Bay Area live about five million People and a large bunch of them is extremely wealthy. Silicon Valley is the economic hart of the USA these days. You would be surprised how many of those companies'employees neede tot be in Brusse...

I don't understand why UA would opt for Houston and not SFO or LAX. Much more travelers to California than to Texas or is it for the transit passengers to South America?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Why not add SFO (or LAX) to the network, Swiss even has double daily flights in the summer, and also SAS is flying, Brussels (as EU capital) is an important destination for all kinds of tech firms around Sillicon Valley . A lot of Belgians work in the region. Moreover it is an important tourist dest...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I understand extending the fleet with new types of airplanes is costly, but in the short run the fleet will only consist of airplanes from the A320-family and A330-family, 2 types is really limited. If some of the a330s become too small, and the a340 is no option because of its fuelburning 4 motors,...
