Re: Air Antwerp, a new airline from Deurne ?

the only thing they have to find out, is a good noon flight destination Under my eternal excuse of not being an expert on commercial air transport: That is, IMHO, not the right way of thinking in this situation. It is, no doubt, the right way to go about low-yield routes, but ANR was never a place ...

Re: Air Antwerp, a new airline from Deurne ?

I agree 100% with that. Ppl who used to fly with VLM to LCY already found other solutions in the mean time and are used to those. 3,5 to 4 hours by train? And for travellers from Antwerp, going to the city centre of London, travelling through BRU and LHR takes more time than the ANR-LCY flights too...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

If SN is flying full A330s in triangle flights to somewhere in Africa, they can replace them by two full A321LR non-stop flights to the same destinations. Passenger-wise that's probably around the same. But flying two planes in stead of one would require double the amount of fuel. The A321LR will b...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Even a private operator will be dependent on the Infrabel-infrastructure.
Even in an environment without inefficient state companies, there can still be a "person's accident" or something else preventing any traffic on that line passing by.

Anyway that was always my feeling it's not our national airport it's the Flanders International Airport always I have to insist before they start speaking French and it's with fireback! That name is already taken... https://www.luchthaven-antwerpen.com/wp-content/themes/airport/images/anvers-logo.j...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Look at the article of KLM, they do the same. You can check in your baggage at a certain point , check yourself in, take the train and at the airport you can go to the gate. You will see this more and more. Aviation will and has to change https://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/nieuws/categorie/2/airlines/...

If you only have hand luggage, don't you use an on-line check-in, or from your mobile phone? Are those kiosks used often?

Re: Air Antwerp, a new airline from Deurne ?

A220-100 has over 100 seats, around the same as an Embraer 190/195 or Avro which KLM and CityJet do have. But let them take it step by step: first filling up a plane with around 50 passengers, and then scaling up.

Re: Air Antwerp, a new airline from Deurne ?

I was also wondering why they don't use ATR or CityJet or KLM aircraft, from Embraer 175 to CRJ-900... Well... E175 and CRJ-900 have more seats, so that could be one reason to go for F50 as filling 50 seats (and covering fuel costs) would already be quite an achievement. the leasing back of an Amap...

Re: Air Antwerp, a new airline from Deurne ?

Could one of the two other destinations be Amsterdam (AMS)? As KLM is one of the two shareholders, they could codeshare on a possible morning and evening return flight ANR-AMS-ANR. Just guessing... Not sure if you're joking in that part already :P In the current erm... climate ( 8-) ) this would br...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

Extensive analysis, quite correct as far as I can judge: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2019/05/17/sociaal-conflict-skeyes-na-de-wilde-staking-en-de-dwangsommen/ * comparison with Netherlands: they have long-term planning AND a flag carrier with international fame; on the contrary Belgium has no long...

Re: The change of the worldwide aviation landscape

Flights for which a reasonable (eg less than 3 hours) train alternative is available should be heavily taxed. 3 hours by train + arriving at least 2 hours before departure at the airport + arriving well on-time at the station + only one train per hour? Per 2 hours? So maybe starting the train-journ...

Re: The change of the worldwide aviation landscape

I agree really short flights are ridiculous and should be replaced by alternative means of transport, but I disagree with the often quoted range of what is a short flight in this respect. When you see the green party for instance table ranges up to 1,000 km as the minimum range to fly over, they cl...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

The fact that EW isn't making any profit might be irrelevant: if they need to make (some) loss to keep the other LCC's away, it might be worth it. If EW should raise their prices to become profitable, they leave a bigger part of the market for for instance Ryanair to fill in. And more and more peopl...

Re: Lufthansa in 2019

No need to dig for SN: its results are drowned in the big loss of EW. What makes you think SN’s figures are good? (Not saying they are bad, just curious to know whether you have data to back up your statement. The only thing I see is stagnating growth and an unhealthy load factor) The SN figu...
