Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Fully agree with RTM, and on topic ! The only thing I really don't like (but it has nothing to do with the fleet age) is the uncomfortable new seats on the A319/320. The thing we all wish (well, perhaps not all of us) is to see the long-fleet grow more quickly (even with second hand aircraft which w...

Re: Interview of CEO Gustin: Brussels Airlines renamed Eurowings? ...and other topics

LH can cope with industrial actions because it has the financial strength which makes it possible to loose a lot of money because of such actions without major repercussions for the airline's balance sheet (it will stay in the black). SN cannot afford it. If SN is 100 % LH, if the employees strike, ...

Re: Interview of CEO Gustin: Brussels Airlines renamed Eurowings? ...and other topics

Why do some members of this forum systematically turn interesting discussions into boring acid SN vs. FR discussions, sometines boardering on insults ? However... I don't see what Eurowings would be looking to take-over in BRU, as the shorthaul market in and out of BRU is already at saturation Well ...

Re: Brussels Airlines a Flemish company?

Re: Interview of CEO Gustin: Brussels Airlines renamed Eurowings? ...and other topics

Perhaps a small reminder (accompanied by a personal note) : LH decided to buy 45 % of SN when Wolfgang Mayrhuber was at the helm at LH. Mayrhuber was an Austrian, not a German (different mentality as you will know). Then, he was replaced by Christopher Franz whom I will call the "Terminator&quo...

Re: Interview of CEO Gustin: Brussels Airlines renamed Eurowings? ...and other topics

And that setup will lead to a huge loss of employment to the people in the back office of SN. The brand itself is not so much the problem, but the cost of supporting multiple companies with their own ops, management, HR, PR, etc ... When all of this can be scrapped and be centralised under one roof...

The full name could be Sabena Belgian Airlines (to make the necessary difference with the old company What about this compromise : Sabena Brussels Airlines ? And, of course, the typical Sabena logo. Re: Interview of CEO Gustin: Brussels Airlines renamed Eurowings? ...and other topics

You know, you'll all keep fighting over Brussels Airlines or Eurowings, I think we should go for the 3th option, a dormant, yet famous brand: Sabena. I agree, but nobody seems to understand the added value of the Sabena brand especially in Africa, where LH will probably only allow brussels Airlines...

Re: Interview of CEO Gustin: Brussels Airlines renamed Eurowings? ...and other topics

It might simply mean that the 2 brands may actually start to be offered next to each other at BRU too, with the clients able to make a choice who he flies with. Thank you for your reaction and attempt to interpret Gustin's words. However, I would not see the rational behind Eurowings offering fligh...

Re: Trivia 2016 (miscellaneous news)

Thank your for responding to my question. In the booking confirmation which I received immediately after booking, it said "flight operated by Air Sicilia". On the e-ticket which I received later, it says indeed : operating carrier : BM Regional. (The flight booked is SN 3661 09 FEB SXB BRU...

Re: Trivia 2016 (miscellaneous news)

Didn't know in which thread to ask my question. So, I will try it here.
I booked a flight with Brussels Airlines. On their confirmation they mention Air Sicilia as operating carrier.
Is there somebody who can give me an explanation ? Thanks.

will the new Canada route survive without the connection to India Good question. Would it be possible to operate BRU BOM BRU YYZ BRU (meaning actually not only O&D but BOM BRU YYZ and YYZ BRU BOM) with one additional A330 and how many weekly flights would be possible ? A question to the experts...

Re: Jet Airways out of Brussels

According to Luchtvaartnieuws.nl " The airline (SN) is looking whether it can open a new route to Mumbay in co-operation with partner Air India". I interpret this as meaning that SN would be the operating carrier rather than AI. http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/nieuws/categorie/2/airlines/br...

Re: Third daily SN flight to CDG

It was not possible in the beginning. Then it became possible until very recently. I don't know the reason why it is no longer possible. Would the flights be full or as good as full with connecting pax and SN doesn't want to loose the opportunity to offer long haul connections from/to CDG ?

It was a little surprising SN would be taking over (English) Toronto while Air Canada would retain (French) Montreal... Or might the SN flight come alongside the AC flight? Re: Jet Airways out of Brussels?

both SN and UA have already requested slots, for respectively Toronto and Newark. This would mean that SN would fly to YYZ ? and UA perhaps an additional flight to EWR and SN switching its JFK flight to an evening departure from BRU ? Just guessing. I don't think AI will fly to BRU. It would be nic...

I don't claim to be an expert, but I would expect that higher leasing costs would be compensated by lower fuel and maintenance cost.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

SN cannot do the same because its shareholders including LH do not want to put money on the table, whereas TAP's new owners want to invest in their airline.
