Let's see how EW longhaul will be affected by this ban?
AFAIK all its longhaul is flown by either Brussels Airlines or SunExpress.

Re: Brussels Airlines pilot shortage in 2019 ?
Experienced long haul pilots are usually top of salary scale, they are unable to gain any more than they have for the rest of their life. You have to compare left & right seat on a fleet, not compare between different fleets. No, you don't. You compare left seat 320 with right seat 330, as that...

Re: Brussels Airlines pilot shortage in 2019 ?
especially the experienced long-haul pilots are bombarded with job offers from other airlines at much higher wages, and not only from far east companies... Experienced long-haul pilots are ready for upgrade to left seat, and usually have a young family. So in general, they are not very keen on movi...

Re: Loss of blue hydraulic system enroute on A340-300: divert, return or continue?
I didn't say that I'm right. I only refer to some posts on AvHerald, where people wrote that the crew should have returned - whilst others say it was fine to continue. Even when that would mean they would be AOG at Libreville. By the way: someone told me that OO-NEY = an ASL Embraer Legacy flew fro...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Those who strike today will leave tomorrow, if nothing changes, or not enough. They can, after all, pilots are in demand worldwide. If this is true there's no reason to strike': it's obvious that SN will raise salaries if that's needed to attract enough pilots. Yet they haven't. The need apparently...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
The problem is that the people that choose to stay strike. Those who strike today will leave tomorrow, if nothing changes, or not enough. They can, after all, pilots are in demand worldwide. Add to that one of the reasons of strike is lack of crews. (and thus overfilled rosters) Some have been leav...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Me thinks that it went wrong last Wednesday between pilots and onions. The pilots voted to strike, and the onions then gave management an official notice “we strike on Monday and Wedsnesday”. The onions must have hoped that management would then give in to their demands after one or two days of neg...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
SN pays the worst wages of the industry I keep hearing this by the pilot-supporters. Does SN really pay a pilot less than Ryanair? Also could someone explain to me how it's possible that SN pays the lowest wages, operates at one of the cheapest large airports of Europe and yet at a time when fuel i...

Also could someone explain to me how it's possible that SN pays the lowest wages, operates at one of the cheapest large airports of Europe and yet at a time when fuel is cheap hardly made a profit 2017 and lost money in Q1 while KL, LH, and BA i.e. are making record profits? It must be managed horr...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
And look at the results: KL with pilots that don't strike does great while AF is losing money. AF pilots are lucky that KL does make money, but sadly for SN pilots I doubt that Lufthansa will cover continuing losses. Odd example, seeing as KL management gave in to pilot demands before they started ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Pilots still don't have the pay scales as they did before the cost saving measures. This still puts SN pilots far below the pay of neighboring country's wages. (And no, that's not just legacy carriers I'm comparing to. Most low cost airlines pay their pilots far better than SN does.) Then leave Bru...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
One question to the pilots : in 2012, when the financial situation of Brussels Airlines was gloomy, you accepted longer working hours and/or salary cuts in order to avoid imminent bankruptcy. Have the pre-2012 working conditions been reinstated, or are you still working on the "crisis" co...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
It is the legal right from employees to go on strike to get more money in their pocket indeed. But then, those defending that right should also respect the right from others (like me and the rest of the tourism & travel trade) to call them egoïsts. Yet the pilots have been protesting their poin...

Re: Captain I forgot to raise gear
On the A32F it's near impossible to "forget" retracting the gear. The noise it makes will remind you quite effectively. :) Cooling down the gear is normally done before taking off. Retracting the gear with hot brakes means a fire hazard if combined with a hydraulic leak in the gear bay. An...

Re: ECJ: Ryanair crew based in Belgium fall under Belgian labour law!
Odd how the discussion is turned from a ruling about Ryanair and its "creative" contracts/constructs (which has been going on for years, this ruling should have happened faster) to the SN wetlease contract. Try as one might, they're not the same thing, and it's a sad attempt to get this th...

Re: 06/06/2017 power failure at Belgocontrol
My reaction was on "one of the poorest in Europe" which is an insult. and yes I fly to those countries. There is room for improvement, I agree. I can understand your point of view (a pilot) regarding holding, but I think (and surely a controller will know better) that the capacity holding...
