Re: Airbus A320 and A320neo news

All, but the last one, in the Bruair fleet are converted. Airbus did it by moving the two toilets that are left and right behind the last row. This free the space for more seats. The 2 toilets are in the galley facing the back of the plane. https://theflyingengineer.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/ceo-...

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2019

SFU's life has been quite hectic recently: engine stall due to contaminated fuel a few months ago and last week a bloody nose during a push-back in BRU. I hope she'll survive until her retirement apparently foreseen for March next year ;) .

Re: Eurowings in 2019

Currently, the long-haul Eurowings flights are operated by three different airlines: SunExpress, Brussels Airlines and CityLine. In an article of Handelsblatt today, Spohr says that by 2022 this will be consolidated into a single airline. The example to follow is Edelweiss. Methinks that it will no...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

YUL makes even more sense for SN than YYZ. The Québec province and Québec City attract a lot of belgian tourists, among which many French speaking for an obvious reason. Of course it would be better for SN if AC would discontinue its own flights to YUL and concentrate on YYZ, which is a better hub ...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

SA never served BRU if I'm not mistaken, or that must be over 30 years ago?! ... Yes they did, 30+ years back. Used to fly BRU-JNB with a stop over in MAD to top up the fuel tanks and fly all around Africa as they did not have the rights to fly straight down. Using a 747 SP. Leaving BRU in the even...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

SN will fly seasonal 5 times a week to YUL. AC will fly from both cities to BRU Thanks for the info! So basically SN will put extra capacity in summer time to YUL and AC replaces them on YYZ. That’s a lot of capacity, combined with Air Transat  Hi 737Max, A lot of capacity indeed, but the de...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

OO-SFH is currently flying from HKG to AMM for cabin retrofit. It's the last one (7th) of the current A330 refleet program. Is it also painted in the modified Brussels Airlines colours with the white belly, like OO-SFF? How long does the cabin retrofit usually take? For SFE, it took about 2 months.

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Yes, many pax will choose price over comfort. With or without incentives, airlines offer them lower prices to fill their long-haul flights. Reducing airport tax for connecting pax could be an acceptable measure, imho. I don't really care if the pax next to me is paying less ( it's been the case for...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Right, but also the fact that the hub and spoke model gives you a better chance to keep a higher market share at home. With the right price the home market share, if there is one at the first place, won’t be a problem. Today direct flights are more expensive than flying a detour to connect, this is...

From that article about Austrian's restructuring plan: The rising LCC competition attacks our feeding system and therefore indirectly also our long haul and hub-network . When analyzing Europe’s Top 40 airports, we see that the average LCC share in hub airports is about 20%, while it skyrockets bey...

No more Moscow flights for SN? Has this been announced? Was announced on this forum 3 weeks ago: They will also stop operating Moscow flights from 18.11 till 20.12 and from 11.01 till 24.02. According to one of SVO employees their flights are usually loaded with 80-90 passengers. After moving to SV...

States have sovereignty over their territory and the airspace above it. They could impose such rules, probably for safety or environmental reasons
They certainly have that prerogative, but the russian example clearly shows that there are often other, less noble, reasons involved.
