Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective

Just flew back from Zagreb. LF at least 95%. I was booked on the Croatia Airlines flight an hour earlier, but this was cancelled because of lack of capacity in Brussels. Croatia Airlines suggested to switch to an additional flight they laid on to Amsterdam, with coach service to Diegem. But I had th...

Re: Breaking: Belgocontrol air traffic control strike (22 april 2016)

The government should at least have condemned the strike, given the dramatic circumstances for Brussels Airport. The government (Jacqueline Galant, Mobility) should have set up an urgent meeting for 19h00 tonight. Not "an invitation for continued negociations tomorrow", as the VRT stated....

Re: Breaking: Belgocontrol air traffic control strike (22 april 2016)

Veli Yüksel (CD&V) now condemning the strike, even though he earlier said on Twitter to "understand the concerns of ATC staff, although the timing of their action is somewhat unfortunate". He didn't take long to change his tune.

Re: Breaking: Belgocontrol air traffic control strike (22 april 2016)

Does anyone know when ATC staff will have recovered from the news they will have to wait until they're 58 before they can retire? I read that the wildcat strike will end at 10.15 tonight. Is this correct? I am flying tomorrow morning, so any info would be much appreciated.

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2016

Couldn't agree more Stij. These people are playing with the livelihood of many thousands of employees, and of course completely ruining what was left of the reputation of the airport. They don't want to work till the age of 58? Well they won't have to if they carry on like this. I'm scheduled to fly...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

There are some issues we are not aware of, like as for the policemen that refused to work under certain circumstances.. And it's not a strike, it's understaffing... Excuse me, what do you call not turning up for work then? Issues or not, this is not the time for unannounced strike action, and yes, ...

Belgocontrol ATC strikes 2016

Luckily, you can always count on ATC to complicate things even further. Despite an agreement between trade unions and management, they still go on strike.

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

What is the reason why there are no trains running?is it because the access to the trainstation is via the departurehall ('diamond'). Is there no exit/access on the other side which might be used or opened towards the temporary check in tent Trainstation still needs repairs, but will open soon. And...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

Why is there still no communication from anyone (BAC, NMBS/SNCB) regarding the train station and when rail services will resume. Or an explanation as to why rail services are not operating at present. Airport communication really has been lacking, as I stated previously.

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

I flew to GVA this morning, on SN 2711, first flight of the day. No queues at first police checkpoint. I was directed to P2, even though the other car parks are now open as well. Very few passengers around at 5am, hence no queues anywhere. Quite a few flights of stairs to reach the Connector, but I ...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

I have two return flights booked the next two weeks, but it looks as if I will have to cancel both. What makes it really complicated is that I don't have a clue as to what the situation will be in 12 days from now. What airlines will operate, what schedules... Due to fly to Geneva next week, and to ...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

Just heard on VRT news that Delta is cancelling Atlanta service from Brussels for the rest of the year. Can anyone confirm this? I wonder what the effect of the current situation will be on other long-haul carriers serving Brussels.

Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines

Allow me to ask where the real improvement is, compared to connecting via Paris, or London? As a frequent traveller to Australia (often on Qantas), I am very happy that I no longer have to lose hours by transferring at LHR. Any flight from there will have a stop in DXB (in the case of Qantas) or SI...
