Re: Trivia 2018 (miscellaneous news)

A small plane going from Goetsenhoven (EBTN) to Zwartberg (EBZW) misidentified the destination airport and landed at Kleine Brogel Air Base (EBBL), about 17 km north of their intended destination. The occupants were released after interrogation, but the plane is still held at EBBL: http://www.standa...

Re: Crashes and serious incidents/accidents in 2018

I flew at EBZW yesterday myself, but left the airfield before this accident happened. There was quite a lot of crosswind and therefore little traffic. Plane landed on RWY 03 with a crosswind from the east. One would thus expect an outbreak in towards the right if the wind catches the tail. The remai...

I guess Spohr has been mainly looking at the competition: which European full service airline groups have not yet launched a low cost, low service subsidiary?

Yes indeed but Brussels Airport is regulated by federal administration given the special status of the airport. Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

BRU is a case very special as this is the national airport of Belgium, I'm not really convince that the worker are more french speaking or Dutch speaking. Me neither; I used that statement solely for the sake of the argument. Language policy and planning in public places is a complicated matter, wh...

Where Flanders wins in aviation? The 2 biggest airport in a whole country are french speaking meanwhile french speaking people is only 35% - 40% of the population in Belgium! BRU is on Flemish territory where the official language is Dutch only. The use of other languages in for instance signs at t...

They apparently also claim that for passengers living west of Brussels, the travel time to CRL is shorter than to BRU. Apart from a few exceptions (Tournai, Mons, Geraardsbergen and maybe Ronse), this is simply not true.

On top of that, every musician knows that his/her wooden instrument shouldn't be placed in the normal hold of a plane. The temperature shock doesn't do any good to the wood and thus the sound quality.

In the case of Alitalia, this is limited to their leased fleet as Italian law makes it very difficult to a lessor to repossess their planes when (no longer if imo) AZ folds.

That would be true for any sizeable piece of hand luggage that doesn't fit under a seat. I'm asking why SN treats it different from any other piece of hand luggage, which they don't in my experience.

Although, I don't understand, why she was thinking, the buggy would be accepted on board, not any belgian carrier accepts those in cabin. That's not quite accurate. I don't know which type of stroller/pram she had, but I personally own a stroller that folds up to cabin luggage size. Airline staff s...
