Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Ryanair is an economic and ecological aberration! Stupid comments on forums pollute more than planes worldwide. Just saying. You mean like one of the most competition distorting situations in all of European airline industry (Ryanair’s position in CRL), right. The only reason it still exists as if ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

BRU is a disgrace. One of the worst airports in Europe. Only the Connector and Pier A look more or less up to date. Rest is Sub standard. Ugly. Obsolete.Dirty. Oh please... That's beyond a mere exaggeration. There are certainly things overdue, mosyly the bus station and car drop off is definitely n...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

There isn’t any more space on the NEO, the opposite in fact, due to the lager bins, which are a nice addition, the NEO is a bit less spacious. Legroom is exactly the same. In terms of seating it depends where in the cabin you look (compared to SN's standard A320) - First row is the same - Then you ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

OO-SSA is back from the paint shop in East Midlands (EMA), now OO-SSB flew there for its paintjob (yesterday). Only 3 A319 left in the old livery. A bit strange since I thought 5 would leave the fleet to be replaced by the A320neo. Why repainting some when they will leave the fleet in a few months?...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Until there is some sort of special new opportunity that arises making anything outside of Africa or secondary North America suddenly a very attractive opportunistic opportunity, there is absolutely no reason to go into a new such very expensive adventure while leaving other more logical and very po...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023

The history is more complex and you have to look back many decades. Lufthansa had a leisure oriented brand - Condor. It was sold 20 years ago but it remained tied a little bit to LH as LH was offering feeder flights. As long as Condor was belonging to a travel group, there was no real competition. ...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023

I still see a major difference between the Lufthansa and Swiss subsidiaries: Swiss has only one leisure-oriented subsidiary, Edelweiss, which is flying both long-haul and short/medium-haul, whereas Lufthansa is multiplying brands: If Discover was initially meant to cover long-haul, it has also shor...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023

What is the difference, for instance, between Eurowings and Discover (or is it Discover Air) ? Discover Airlines (4Y) had never much to do with Eurowings (EW) aside from the name and brand. Long haul under Eurowings (under EW management) was not working well and so LH decided to close that part of ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

Imho, the only question to be answered is, why, inside a major group like LH, SN remains in the red ? Given the apparently low wages and working conditions, why is SN is still in the red ? I don't think It is due to a lack if commitment of their Belgian employées at all levels. Or you could look at...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

Just as a help for the future, they also publish everything in English: https://investor-relations.lufthansagroup.com/en/publications/financial-reports.html The PR of Eurowings was indeed quite open for interpretation what they mean exactly. But that's why it's always best to just double-check with ...

I suggest you read the financial report, EW booked an adjusted EBIT of -34 Mio EUR (-2.9% margin) vs. the -12 Mio of SN (-1.6% margin).

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

An absolutely useless green idea. Easy to circumvent. Example: Ryanair sells a ticket for 40 euros from Vienna to Barcelona, but offers free baggage and meal onboard. Wait... I thought politics should be avoided here?   And by the way, do you travel with a piece of luggage when you ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Is there a proper source for the rumour of LH Group (partially) selling a member? - Was it considered that this might not be an airline member of the group? For years now LHG has been looking at its options for LSG and LH Technik - both being units requiring significant investment to stay at the top...

Re: Lufthansa in 2020

Lufthansa and Fraport plan to form a joint venture to further develop the Frankfurt airport. Is it really necessary? Is it necessary? Maybe not - but if it's like the model they have in Munich (joint-development and operation of Terminal 2 since 2003), that has proven extremely successful for both ...

Re: Lufthansa in 2020

If LH has to buy from Airbus all that they ordered, they might abandon the 777X order from Boeing! Not so sure - for sure Lufthansa wants to delay its 777 deliveries (and possibly cancel or convert part of its order), it has already indicated so anyway. But cancel them because of the Airbusses bein...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Unless they don't need anything anymore from the Belgian government. If LH gets up to 9bn, then that's up to 2bn more than AF + KL needed combined. I doubt that the burn rate of AF+KL combined is almost equal to the burn rate of LH+EW combined, especially as LH has LH Cargo, which must be running w...

What about comparing SN to TAP? Similar fleet, similar home-market, SN being focused on Africa compared to TAP's focus on South America,... Both member of Star Alliance. Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Why not follow Italy's example and nationlise SN? And then what? I understand the question, but SN has absolutely no future without being part of a major airline group. Yes there's an incredible amount of scepticism over LHG on this forum - some for good reasons, others not so much... - but it's to...

Re: Boeing 777(X) news

Boeing says that the B777/777X combined production rate will be reduced to only 3 per month in 2021. That sounds almost like a death notice for the 777X... From 5 (current combined rate) to 3 is bad, but a death notice is a bit extreme... The classic 777 is running on it's last legs in production a...
