Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

SFD is (was?) supposed to enter ops this week with the new interior. That would make a total of 10, even without SFU and SFY. SFD will replace SFE or SFG, both already started operating with ex-SIA interior to ensure an 'on-time' phase-out of SFM/N/O, but were originally never intended to operate f...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures

Well, it's true that the number of SN pax for the month can't possibly be 295000 (it was above 624000 last month)! It would be easy for LH/SN to prevent that confusion! Yes, it would be easy, but Lufthansa categorically refuses to do so. And since LH owns 100% of SN, the latter can only comp...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Is it still a result of the fuel contamination of last December at Kinshasa Airport ? Not that I know. Engines also need heavy maintenance once in a while, or quicker if detailed inspections reveal things that make it risky or too unsafe to continue operations with that engine. There are for the mo...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures

The number of pax, in %, during March was again the highest one for Brussels Airlines for the whole LH Group. SN saw in increase of more then 15%!!!!!! while Eurowings had a drop of more then 2% For the whole LH group was only an increase of 1%. Good job SN, even they want to kill this brand and co...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Refurbishing and check Rather a global shortage of the required PW engines, resulting in a prelonged AOG of SFU... They probably use the ground time to do some other stuff (but it's not getting the new interior for example), but that's not the primary reason it's been on the ground for so long now.

Re: National strike in Belgium on 13 February 2019

Interestingly, KLM maintains all its flights: what an opportunity! Most SN destinations can be reached from AMS. Whereas LH, LX and OS cancelled all their flights together with SN when FRA, MUC VIE, ZRH could be nice alternatives. Lack of vision of the LH Group! Already last week the full LH Group ...

Re: National strike in Belgium on 13 February 2019

You realise it's winter and that on Wednesday the amount of holiday flights by SN is even not 2 percent of the total of flights? Even more the reason not to inconveniece those people There are just 2(!) flights that pose a problem for Thomas Cook, the one to TFS and the one to HRG. Both have been c...

Re: National strike in Belgium on 13 February 2019

Meanwhile TUI manages to operate a full schedule from alternate airports. Im sorry but cancelling everything is the easy option I applaud the actions of TUIfly to relocate their 36 flights to the Netherlands and France and arrange bus transport for all pax, indeed a great job of them. But are you s...

Re: National strike in Belgium on 13 February 2019

Pro tip for SN staff: if you want to become a successful ‘national’ airline despite LH’s efforts to turn you into a low cost franchise you don’t go on strike for vague reasons! :| SN staff will not strike (except maybe a few lost exceptions), the cancelations are because basically 'everyone else' i...

Says Jeroen Lyssens, VP network Brussels Airlines... Jeroen? And yes he says so, what do you mean with that? That he's lying? Making the truth look nicer than it is? Ashaming his reputation in a publication of the world's most well-known independent organisation in terms of airline/airport route de...

Re: BRU Summer 2019: news, new routes, airlines

It's an internal Star Alliance statistic that's well known by those familiar in the global Star network, also repeated here in an article about SN in the latest edition of the 'Routes News' magazine: https://content.yudu.com/web/2zc2/0Auv9i/rn1-2019/html/ It was also mentioned during one of the Star...

Re: BRU Summer 2019: news, new routes, airlines

No! In my point of view, the problem is coming from Brussels airlines... sorry... Eurowings. Mr Spohr and LH are the real problem in Belgium! That airline that expanded its market share at BRU from about 30% in 2013 to almost 40% in 2018? That company/group that facilitates the fact that BRU is the...

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Can it be saved?

Sorry for the «broken record» : for those who were still in two minds, my «broken record» says : if you are not bound by a corporate travel policy, don't fly any of the LH Group airlines anymore, be it for business or leisure, and don't fly via Spohr's declared hubs (FRA, MUC, ZRH, VIE and FCO ???)...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Thanks. But it's a bit a pity because the C and Y class are completely worn out. But it's understandable.... SFT started flying for SN just 1 year ago (end of Jan 2017), it definitely doesn't have a worn out C and Y class. There is a big difference between 'not in new state anymore' and 'completely...

But SFT is a 200 with PW engine almost 20 years old?!? Is Brussels Airlines not switching to Trent???? 2 A332's have lease contracts till 2021/2022 and will stay until then. They get the new PY cabin (though with some small visual differences to fit the 'old' cabin vs the version that will be insta...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

First of all I am wondering how SN can improve its figures when they are dragged down with EW's horrific performance? It's not SN's figures that matter, but EW's. SN is and will remain a seperate entity, both legally and operationally. Totally regardless of the consolidated public Eurowings Group f...

For 2018 Brussels Airlines announced 750 new jobs, but hired only 350 employees for the full year.

Such forecasts are highly unpredictable.
The forecast of 750 included new DUS based staff, 350 was the number for Brussels.

2018 was also the first year that SN exceeded 4000 employees.
