Re: Fear

Hi, I flew TAP in May (Brussels - Lisbon and back), it's a nice airline, nothing to worry about. My ex also had fear of flying, especially the take-off. This is what helped for her: * Sit more towards the front, in general there is a bit less noise if you are before or above the engines, and it's sl...

Re: BRU 25/07/2013 Tomorrowland flights

The change to A333 seems strange
I think it has more to do with the TLV or IAD flights that (I think) are also open for regular passengers, thus possibly requiring more seats at the last minute.

Re: Brussels Airport delays extension of A pier

May I remind you that the T-zone can only be used for non-Shenghen departures. The T-zone is not build to process arriving flights extra-Shenghen. So making the T-zone any larger has no point, as your *A long haul carriers would still have to dock at Pier B to unload pax. The only one's happy with ...

Re: New baggage sorting system at BRU

They could keep their security + shopping level and then above or under it a level with gates and more shops. The connector building is designed (seeing the few renders that have been posted in other topics) big enough for making internally another level in it with it still having a roomy and airy f...

Re: New baggage sorting system at BRU

As far as I know (but I'm already a year out of the BRU environment & aviation in general), the T gates will not continue to exist after enough non-schengen capacity has been created. As the A terminal (and as such the T zone too) has only 1 level, it is not suited for non-schengen where you nee...

Sir, I complement you on your analysis.

May I ask if you know why Brussels Airlines is able to participate in Lufthansa's hedging program?

Kind regards,

Re: New Gates at the end of the A pier?

And what would be the problem with creating 2 dedicated platforms? One at W41 for runways 25R and 20 and one at the start of runway 07R for runways 07R and 02? Probably just the cost... You need to install a dedicated system to collect the (toxic) de-icing fluids. And a logistical nightmare for the...

Re: BrusselsAirlines - the TURBOPROPS will come!

I try to stay out of these Flanker vs Tolipanebas discussions, but a few small remarks: One size fits all mediumhaul fleets are dead upon arrival at network airlines, regardless the type of plane used for the simple reason you need to be able to vary capacity throughout the day; otherwise you either...

Re: low cost more expensive then full service

maybe you can start reading the article. It specifically is mentioned that the calculation is based on a simple situation so no bells and whistles like you are talking about. Say what you want, he is correct though. I'm no big fan of Ryanair (I always end up on the middle seat at the back, as I'm t...

Re: Simultaneous usage of 3 runways at BRU?

Thanks everyone for the answers.

I knew about the cargo aircrafts using sometimes other runways then most passenger aircrafts, but it really struck me lately that many planes were using all RWYs at the same moment.

I guess I just didn't pay enough attention before

Simultaneous usage of 3 runways at BRU?

Hello all, I live next to BRU and can see all runways from my windows. The last couple of weekends I noticed something that i hadn't noticed before: all 3 runways were used simultaneously. Today again, I was looking at a take-off at RWY 20, while a second later I also noticed a take-off from RWY 25R...

Possibility of geomagnetic storm WED 28/12/12

Hi there,

http://www.spaceweather.com reports a 30 to 40% chance of a geomagnetic storm on Wednesday 28/12/12 around 12:00 UT. If this would occur, what would be the impact on aviation, does anybody know?

It will be interesting as I'll be flying home around that time!

Regards,
Pieter

Re: Besides Aviapartner & Flightcare, a 3th handler at BRU ?

Yes thats true but while i doubt it would be economical to handle only their own flights it would be if they did all the star alliance flights Ergo, in your opinion, you need as a handler more then 50% of the market to be profitable. That would leave another 50% to be shared by the other 2 handlers...

Wouldn't it be simpler to change some of the jetways instead of building a new pier? I gather from this discussion B pier might have too many narrowbody stands soon, and a lack of widebody ones. In my opinion, that would rather be a short term solution, good to cope with the short term expansion of...

It has to be in two waves, otherwise there will be a problem at Brussels Airport with all those widebodies. They can't handle them all in the morning. Or they are going to use the remote stands at the former south-pier, which I doubt. Expect that whatever happens, some flights will be handled on re...

What could change the situation is that countries shift to shengen, e.g. UK, IE, ... in the long term even all European countries, including new member states of the EU. This would mean increased used of A-terminal and decreased use of the B-terminal. I am not sure that there is a need (in the shor...

We stay in reasonable hotels and wouldn't touch a hostel with a bargepole. We would not visit rather than stay in a hostel. Off topic, but I am offended by that.
