Re: BRU Summer 2019: news, new routes, airlines

Lufthansa is going to take over the flights from Star Alliance member LATAM between Muc and Sao Paulo. This is really bad luck for BRU again as a pax flight between BRU and Sao Paulo is now very unlikely as LH will not allow LATAM to fly to BRU now with pax The reason for this is much more simple t...

Re: Lufthansa in 2018

Lufthansa is launching a route from Frankfurt to Pune in India. Since it is not a heavily travelled route, it is operated by an A319, which does not have a sufficient range. Therefore, there is an intermediate stop in Baku, Azerbaijan. The A319 also does not have dedicated business seats; therefore...

Will they also sleep on the floor in Dublin Airport or did the airline book them in a decent hotel?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Well, if I read that statement of Belgian companies, I cannot find much support to keep the brand or the business model. I read: " “It is crucial that Brussels Airlines , together with its many partners, can further develop the hub in Brussels and the network of flights to Europe and the rest ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

According to someone on Airliners.net (I know, not the most reliable source) there are talks going to keep all planes on the ground "to make Lufthansa listen". Anyway, if they decide to strike, is it really the first strike in the history of Brussels Airlines? Somehow it's hard to believe...

Reuters picked up the story about Belgian companies standing behind Brussels Airlines: https://uk.reuters.com/article/lufthansa-brusselsairlines-business/belgian-business-rallies-to-brussels-airlines-in-face-of-lufthansa-shift-idUKL8N1PV35Z Well, if I read that statement of Belgian companies, I can...

Re: Ryanair in 2017

Regarding the strike in Germany (Friday, 05h00-09h00): https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/ryanair/ryanair-regrets-unnecessary-4-hour-german-strike-threat-friday-22-december/ It seems that Vereinigung Cockpit disagreed with the Ryanair statement in the above article (though I don't really understand...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective

Indeed, LH seems to use every opportunity now to grow eurowings as fast as possible. Wet leasing 40 (!) aircraft incl. crews from Air Berlin already from October / November this year (if this information proves to be correct) seems to be the next step in this strategy (basically all planes of Air Be...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

Hi, just another experience of flying out of BRU yesterday. I had a 18h55 departure to FRA. I left at the Diamant Station in town by bus 12 to the airport at 16h50 and I hoped this would work, following a positive experience already some week ago. And it went far better than I had expected! The bus ...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

Guys, had my first flight today to/from BRU after the attacks; flights had been booked two months ago so I had to fly - otherwise I might have taken the train ... I came in from FRA this morning on LH touching down around 8.20am, pretty normal situation at the gate, in the A pier and the baggage hal...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

You must be in an excellent physical condition if you arrive 25 min before departure and never missed your flight. Especially as you're supposed to be at the gate 15 min before departure. That leaves you with 10 min to clear security and, if you're flying extra schengen, immigration, and make a das...

Shifting security controls to entry check points outside the airport will in my view in no way reduce the ris...

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports

Anyone an idea how the upcoming national strike on 22 April will affect air traffic at BRU ? I should attend a meeting in Leuven on 22/23 April and as the train from Frankfurt via Liege, which I would have preferred in this case, most certainly will not run there would be the option to fly into BRU ...

Re: Eurowings Intercontinental

At the end of the day the equation is quite simple: If we have open skies for each and every airline to fly from / to Europe there is no way ANY EU airline employing its staff in Europe, paying its taxes in Europe and applying all other kind of regulations we do have in Europe will be able to compet...

QR EK and others are BETTER and CHEAPER and MORE RESPECTFUL. The choice becomes easy to make now. Yes, I guess they really are. But how can they be so cheap and so good at the same time? Yes, they might have a good management, agreed. However, the main reason is: they have more or less unlimited st...

Re: Eurowings Intercontinental

I guess the solution to the eurowings / sunexpress issue is not that difficult: LH needed a German AOC for its new eurowings operation, otherwise there would be no acceptance by the public. On the other hand it could not be an AOC from within Lufthansa itself and there could not be one founded by LH...
