Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
A pilot who moves to a new airline drops at the bottom of the seniority list for the aircraft type and position they hold. SN's most experienced A320 captain will become the most junior A320 captain if they move to another airline. At airlines where pilots and copilots get to choose the routes they...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
If I remember well, a part of the profit of last year was going to be paid to all employees as an extra bonus and that was not a small amount. It's not only a dividend to the shareholders You are mixing up two different things here, profit share is peanuts compared to management bonuses. Believe me...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
The agreement was on the table. The pilots and unions agreed with the wage increase proposed by SN. But at the end, to compensate it, they had to deliver in 14 recuperation days from the 144 days. Honestly, who would accept to work 14 extra days/year to self-finance a salary increase? Can you even ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
I've read the strike will cut the (fragile!) profits in half... Well done pilots and all parties involved, well done! Ah, always amazing how people swallow this managerial propaganda whilst the same managers are laughing their way to the bank to collect big bonuses! A 10% pay rise for every SN empl...

I wouldn’t call two flights a week a “sign”.theeuropean wrote: ↑16 Mar 2024, 15:14 Maybe I am reading way too much into it but I’m wondering if the new lufthansa cargo is a sign for things to come - apart from the press release itself about the growing partnership between LH, UA and SN

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
You mean like one of the most competition distorting situations in all of European airline industry (Ryanair’s position in CRL), right. The only reason it still exists as if CRL is a small 2mio pax regional airport today is because of Belgium’s unique political set-up. Yes from a competitive point ...

Correct! So may I suggest you stop bashing Ryanair for making money by flying from nowhere to nowhere?oldblueeyes wrote: ↑01 Mar 2024, 17:55 If a company can fly destination A and earn 5 EUR why should it fly destination B and earn only 4?

Re: BRU Summer 2024: news, new routes, airlines
Summer 24 vs. 23 +5 A320neo -2 A320 -2 A319 -2 CRJ (Cityjet wetlease) There is no extra capacity on short haul this summer. The industry measures capacity in ASK (available seat kilometer). 5 A320neo's is a significant jump in capacity. More passengers on the same route does count. 3 NEOs as 2 are ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
The main reason of the CityJet wetleases going feom SN to LH is the grounding of many A320 neo with PW engines. Originally it was indeed the plan to also have cityet wetleases for SN in S24 (they make profits), but it was reshuffled to LH because they will have over 20 a320 grounded due to the engi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
If you want to operate smaller aircraft you have to do like KLM, Finnair, Aer Lingus, Air France, British Airways, Iberia and TAP Air Portugal. To get your own regional brand affiliated to your parent company. KLM has KLM City Hopper, Air France has Air France HOP, Aer Lingus has Aer Lingus Regiona...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
if you claim new aircraft, better income for employees etc these are all cost factors which would need to be covered in the ticket prices. Correct, but the impact is minimal, eg a 10% salary increase for every employee would increase the ticket price by 1,5% or less than 1€ for the majority of tick...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Are you impressed by reviews ?? Organized by BAC themselves ? Every airport of any big city in EU is way better than BRU. Maybe in Bulgaria, Moldavia... there are worse cases. What are the managers doing in their fancy offices? They make big plans like BRU 2040… nice video, blabla. Then nothing... ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Knowing attrition is a problem, the spokesperson would have certainly mentioned retirement.
There was a big wave of forced early retirement during the 2020 reorganisation, so not many, if any, SN pilots are eligible for retirement in the coming years.
