Re: Blue Skies forever
Tony Van Grieken died on the 25th of January 2022. Tony was the first general manager (and co-founder?) of Delta Air Transport (DAT) in Antwerp. Mr Van Grieken was well known at Antwerp Airport in the days when Delta Air Transport started operations. Tony (a former military pilot, I seem to have he...

Airlines suspending or readjusting routes due to Coronavirus
Hm, that sounds like a nice wish, I can only agree. Only, it seems that the highly competitive market leaves less and less room for goodwill. More's the pity, of course.Let's hope airlines show their goodwill now...

Airlines suspending or readjusting routes due to Coronavirus
As for the Geneva motor show being cancelled: that is just one more indication of the virus outbreak affecting the complete economy and the complete society, far beyond our little domain of (commercial) aviation. The impact on commercial air transport seems to be huge indeed, IATA publishes quite pa...

You better ask that of them rather than asking here. But at a wild guess, their answer could well be along the lines of "because that's where we can make money".

Re: Impact of the coronavirus on aviation
That might mean nobody cares which is precisely my point: this forum CLAIMS to be about ALL aspects of aviation but was never able to realise that. It would be more honest to style itself as "Airline forum" or "commercial air transport forum". As it is, the flag "aviation&q...

Re: Impact of the coronavirus on aviation
Why was the title of the thread modified? For the umpteenth time, "aviation" is much more than commercial air transport, and, as far as I can see, only commercial air transport is affected. Private aviation: no or little effect. There is very little of that in China, anyway. Military aviat...

Look how well we are working! Finding even the smallest imperfection! Yes, we may have been a bit kludgy yesterday, perhaps, just the faintest tad; today however everything is bright and shiny and perfect!

[[ getting even more off-topic ]] Aren't you confusing with EBLB Elsenborn/Butgenbach? I much wonder about the status of that neat little asphalt runway, I last heard it was used for UAV trials but that is many years ago. Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Ha, there you are touching on a pet peeve of mine! Actually, several, even. * from a legal point of view, I see no issue; and if there were, legal action would have been underway long since. The airport operating company being a private venture, they have every right to publish whatever they want in...

Though mostly Austrian registered, these Skyvans seem to operate mainly from Klatovy LKKT - not a very common mention here, either. I have a few pictures:

Re: Storm Ciara 09/02/2020
Tankering fuel (ie carrying fuel for 2 or more sectors) is quite common in aviation. Yes, but not always for the same reasons. In commercial air transport, price may be the usual reason; smaller planes sometimes fly to aerodromes where their preferred type of fuel is not available at all; quite a s...

Re: Storm Ciara 09/02/2020
Very strange: EBBR/BRU had seen 19 in use for both landings and take-offs, only to be expected with the strong southerly wind.
Now, around 20:05 UTC, operations seem back to the "standard" 25R for dep., 25L for arrival. OO-SSI aborted a 19 approach to turn aside then land on 25L.

With a good and up-to-date virusscanner, I should think
Meanwhile I am surprised to see the winds calmer than they were, around 18:00 UTC, on a long final for EBBR 25R. Or would it only be a short lull? The climax had been forecast for late evening and night..?
