Very nice show from OO-TUI. It's not often that we can snap pictures of a 737 with the gear up! http://www.forseilles.net/albums/sanicole/B2V0931.jpg I've put the rest of my pics from Sanicole on my website (plus some air-to-air pics of the Yak 50 that made the trip with us): http://www.forseilles.n...

still the landings are always rough. Why ? That's because the ILS is not 3c so you can't let the AP do it for you. Just joking, AP generally makes pretty rough touchdowns. There is no real reason to have rougher landings in EBCI than anywhere else, except maybe the usual and strange 'f...

Re: EBCI Closed Again

Are you sure? 23L is CAT I, II and III. 05R and 23R are CAT I only. 05L has no ILS. Source: AIP. The reason why 05L/23R is not used as a runway at this moment can be found in the NOTAM (WIP). Not sure at all, I didn't check the CATs. :) But even before the WIP, the 05L/23R was seldom used, no?

Re: EBCI Closed Again

Gusts at 30 knots is nothing compared to the 18 January storm, why would the airport close just for that ? Or maybe crosswinds but I doubt it since they could land at Liege ? Liege was pretty calm at the same moment, not even raining and W/V 110/10. If the wind was gusting at 30kts on 110 and it wa...

11pm is already very busy at LGG, since all TNT flights land in the same time. Must have been a crazy rush hour :) Do you know if they used the 2 tracks ? (is the second long enough for the 737 ? seems that they used it when the main one was on work) No, they stacked everyone on 5R. Personally I've...

EBCI Closed Again

Not the union's fault, this time. Airport was closed at about 2000Z because of thuderstorms. ATIS was announcing gusts at 30kts  and closing until 0400Z. You should have seen all these Ryanairs lining up on the ILS approach of 05R in EBLG at 11PM. I was lucky to see that from the circuit (and...

Is it me or what? Though night VFR was not allowed in Belgium. Hopefully not. :) You can fly NVFR in Belgium, with a flightplan though. With JAR you have to be Night VFR to start with IR (because except for that, probably very few people would do X-Country at night in a 25 years old single engine a...

EBOS is 24€ (if I remember well) for <5.7t during the day. Let's hope it's the same at night. :?

Thanks!

EB* Night VFR Airports

Hello,

Would one of you have a list of Belgian airports that accept Night VFR and their opening hours? EBCI closes at 0900, EBLG is open all night, so is Zaventem (but the landing fee puts it out of the league). EBAW is also quite expensive.

Thanks. :)

Yes, everyone ended up making T&Gs in EBNM when I landed there for a drink yesterday. :) I still don't know why EBCI closed down. Maybe runway problems because of the heath? I see nothing in the NOTAM for today.

Does not seem so bad. If o top they could provide a better separation between the seats (larger headrest earlobes?) it would give you much more privacy that the standard set up.

Totally agree. The airport was build during WW2. Most of these people were not even born. They got their land and houses much cheaper than in other places around Brussels because it was near the airport. And now they want to get money because there is noise? It's like building your house along the c...

Stall is dependant of the AoA, not the speed. There is often reference to the 'stall speed' but only because in level flight the AoA depends only on the speed (if configuration stays the same, of course). A plane could stall at high speed if the AoA get too big (pulling the stick very hard). After C...

I've been besides one of these guys going back and forth between JFK and BRU. While it does not instill fear at all, it sure can run on your nerves after several hours (and I don't even think about the guy behind trying to pick his moving meal).
