Re: Air Belgium in 2021

Great news if you ask me! What is the ETOPS situation concerning KF? I guess with the hours clocked with the A340's they can now start training using the A330's with cargo, after which they could replace the A340's with A330's for passengers when things get better? On a side note, why would QR part ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

There is so much passion around this topic, perhaps there should be two threads about Brussels Airlines, one for actual news and facts and one for the interesting and never-ending debate. The situation is extremely complex and some people currently have to take decisions affecting people's livelihoo...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

In any business the brand is the most important thing, this can only mean two things:

1. They are broke
2. A re-brand is planned

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

MEA still offers printed press first in C and then down the aisle in Y, there are options in Arabic, English and French. It does seem like something from past ages but I enjoy grabbing one once in a while. Still I wouldn't miss it and would be happy if I could just download a copy off the aircraft w...

Re: Air Belgium in 2019

About A330's or other large twins, I was wondering if Air Belgium selected the quads to avoid the potential restrictions that would be put on a new operator wanting to fly ETOPS without a track record. If anything they should at one point be considered mature enough for a temporary ETOPS certificate...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Apples and oranges: you cannot say SIN has 40K pax from BRU, which currently means everyone flying from A BRU to B SIN via XYZ means to go there and in the same paragraph say this or that ME3 hub has that many passengers to/from BRU, knowing that the vast majority of those pax are not flying to/from...

Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines

Not to trash the party, I'm extremely happy to see SQ return to BRU, but I am not sure the local market can support EK, EY, QR, TK and on top of that CX, SQ and TG. I'll exclude China and Japan carriers and just mention the likes of FI & SU who are also tending on that hub & spoke model towa...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

The absence of AA is really something strange if you ask me, wherever from in the USA.

SA never served BRU if I'm not mistaken, or that must be over 30 years ago?!

From the Far East we have MH, MU, OZ and of course SQ who have come and gone.

Or the famous TP LIS-BRU-MFM ;)

Free market economy is like the theory of evolution: survival of the fittest.
Not all contenders will remain but in the end the best operator should prevail.

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

I drove twice to AMS this year to take the much cheaper HV direct flight AMS-BEY. If they start such a flight in BRU, I'll be delighted. ME is abusive in terms of prices and SN sadly isn't looking at BEY. HV serve AMS, ORY and LYS-BEY so it's not impossible.

Seems EK is pushing A359 order from 30 to 50 (or 80?) and might be dropping A339.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

If you're going to keep a business class on your planes then it makes sense to reserver some bundled perks to differentiate that offering. Moving away from EW model and closer to LH model could also mean simplifying the tarif classes vis-à-vis the cabin classes. Maybe business will become a bit more...

Re: Air Belgium in 2019

Why not start from Brussels and be member of OW ? SN is killed by LH, why not another solution for BRU ? I like the way you think. Well, we know from fact that BRU was too greedy to lure KF. Not sure if IAG has interest in setting up competition in their backyard, esp. KF is geared towards long haul.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

SN will not fail to reboot. This morning, CEO Christina Foerster and CFO Dieter Vranckx both said that SN WILL reach an 8% EBIT margin in 2022, whatever it takes to get there. My hopes are with you. The next two years will be particurarly testing with a slowing economy, the prospect of recession, a...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Can you then explain that SN is still not mentionned as STAR Member ? Sure, the people in charge of the magazine have not been informed of SN's new status as not being hidden under the EW umbrella, or didn't act on it yet. We should rejoice: SN is given a chance to move away from the EW model and p...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

However, expecting others to come up with the cash and do all of the heavy lifting for you, so you can lean back and pocket the extra revenues streaming in from their increased activities without having done any upfront investments is not going to work, i'm afraid. Luftansa can spend its money else...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Despite having a younger long haul fleet made up with the latest version of a classic aircraft coming from reputable operators, SN still operates in what remains one of the most difficult area in the world, although I'm sure there has been progress since Sabena's days. And we all know that they cann...
