Unidentified drones flew over several Danish airports on Thursday, forcing Aalborg Airport to close for hours and prompting investigations involving police, intelligence services, and the military. The drones, which could not be intercepted, were also seen over Esbjerg, Sonderborg, and Skrydstrup airbase before leaving on their own.
The incident followed a similar drone intrusion at Copenhagen and Oslo airports earlier this week and comes amid recent airspace violations in Estonia and drone flights over Poland and Romania.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen condemned the events as “the most serious attack on critical infrastructure,” not ruling out Russian involvement, though Moscow denies responsibility.
