According to German press media, Belgian airline VLM Airlines will base three Fokker 50 turboprop aircraft in Friedrichshafen (on Lake Constance) and operate twice daily flights (during weekdays) to each Düsseldorf, Berlin Tegel and Hamburg, starting on 15 February 2016.
These routes were previously flown by Austrian airline InterSky, which ceased operations in early November and is now in receivership.
VLM Airlines has a fleet of 12 F50s with an average age of 26 years. From the future destinations, only Hamburg is already in the VLM Airlines network, with twice daily flights from its home base Antwerp.
VLM Airlines said if the new services prove successful, it expects to add more frequencies on these routes. The carrier expects to transport 100,000 passengers annually to and from Friedrichshafen.
