VLM Airlines NV, based at Brussels Airport and carrying out ACMI and charter flights for its own account with Airbus aircraft today filed for bankruptcy. Not really a surprise as on 8 December, VLM Airlines NV’s only aircraft, an Airbus A321 (OO-SBA) was taken back by the leasing company and ferried to Montpellier. For eighty employees an end has come to months of uncertainty.

At first, the fleet consisted of two former Thomas Cook Airbus A320 aircraft. Later, the fleet consisted of one Airbus A320 (OO-TCT) and one Airbus A321 (OO-SBA) providing ACMI and charter flights from Brussels Airport. But in October 2017, OO-TCT left for Manchester to join Thomas Cook Airlines Balearics.

In November, a forum member mentioned that VLM Brussels signed for two Airbus A330 to operate flights between Brussels and China. But the project came never off the ground due to lack of funds.
