Danish low-cost carrier Primera Air is growing its American network. Its latest European destination from the U.S. will be Brussels, with non-stop flights offered from three airports: Boston Logan, Newark Liberty and Washington Dulles. Flights will start in spring 2019 and go on sale immediately.
The carrier will fly its three new Brussels routes with new Boeing 737 Max 9 jets scheduled to be delivered in early spring 2019.
Fares begin at USD149 one way from Boston and Newark and USD199 one way from Washington. But everything else than the entrance to the plane with a small carry-on bag will be charged: USD11.99 for a larger carry-on bag and USD44.99 for a checked baggage. Using a credit card to pay the fare will cost USD12, and meals USD29.99 and up. Advance seat selection starts at USD39.99 per flight.
Primera’s trans-Atlantic aircraft have some of the tightest seats in the industry: standard economy seats feature just 30 inches of seat pitch, a standard for short-haul flights but not for trans-Atlantic trips. It will cost extra to get two more inches on “XL” seats, which offer the same pitch as typical economy seats on traditional carriers. It will even be possible to get a 36-inch pitch on “Premium XXL” seats that are located in the emergency exit rows, but that will come with a hefty fee.
Newark (EWR)-Brussels service begins on 9 May 2019, with a daily round-trip flight. From Newark, Primera also flies to London Stansted and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Washington (IAD)-Brussels service begins 2 June 2019, with 3 flights per week. From Dulles, Primera also flies to London Stansted, as from Thursday 23 August 2018.
Boston (BOS)-Brussels service begins 2 June 2019, with 4 flights per week. From Boston, Primera also flies to London Stansted and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
