- More than 50 destinations in Europe and North America with seamless connections onwards with Lufthansa opened up to business and leisure travellers via Lufthansa’s Munich network
bmi regional will commence flights from Brno, Czech Republic to the Bavarian capital, Munich on 16 November 2015. bmi regional will operate the flights in partnership with Lufthansa as code-share flights with joint BM and LH flight numbers. The airline has tailored the schedule from each city to ensure seamless travel connections for business and leisure travellers via Lufthansa’s worldwide Munich network of more than 50 destinations.
The move strengthens bmi regional’s network presence at Munich Airport and further adds to Lufthansa’s extensive network at Munich. The airline also has daily flights from Munich Terminal 2 to Liege (Belgium), Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Bern (Switzerland) and Bristol (United Kingdom).
Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Officer of bmi regional, said: “The new flights from Brno to Munich represent a significant step forward for bmi regional. The expansion in the Czech Republic also strengthens our established relationship with Lufthansa. Brno perfectly fits into our operating model of adding up-and-coming business markets to our network and through our partnership with Lufthansa connect these high potential markets to the world.”
“Our partnership with Lufthansa offers seamless connections from Brno via Munich to more than 50 worldwide destinations including Europe and North America. Our customers will enjoy everything you expect from a high quality airline: comfort of an all jet fleet, conveniently timed schedules, leading punctuality and reliability, complimentary on-board service, and a generous free baggage allowance”.
Jiri Filip, Chief Executive Officer of Brno Airport commented: “We are very excited about this important milestone in the history of Brno Airport. This new scheduled connection to Munich Airport provides a much needed boost to the city of Brno and South Moravia region. Not only will this provide a direct route into Germany, it also links us on a global scale to other cities and countries. Agents using global distributions systems will shortly be able to view fares and connections using the IATA code BRQ.”
Ofer Kisch, Lufthansa’s Regional Director Central and Eastern Europe, welcomes the new route: “We are delighted to be able to expand our presence in the Czech Republic with this new connection from Munich to Brno. Passengers from the south-east of the Czech Republic are now able to enjoy a quick, easy and seamless access to Asian, African, American and European destinations within Lufthansa’s worldwide network by transiting through our Munich hub. Munich Terminal 2 has recently been awarded with five Stars from Skytrax and offers efficient transit services to our passengers. As Lufthansa has recently completed the most extensive cabin renewal programme in its history, our Brno customers transiting to one of our international destinations will also experience even higher comfort through new cabin interiors in all four travel classes.”
Dr. Michael Kerkloh, CEO of Munich Airport said: “We’re delighted that bmi regional is increasing its presence in Munich with the launch of a new direct service connecting the Czech city of Brno to our Bavarian hub. bmi regional’s regular flights to Bristol, Rotterdam, Liege and Bern have made it an important and dependable partner for us, offering attractive European destinations away from the major metropolitan areas. This steady expansion of services is proof of our airport’s suitability as a base for bmi regional to achieve its ambitions.”
