Antwerp Airport has landed a new Flybe service connecting the hub to Belgium’s biggest port
London Southend Airport has announced a new route to Antwerp, Belgium, together with a massive 80% increase in the number of flights for its summer 2018 schedule.
The new Antwerp service, on a 70-seater ATR72-600 series aircraft, will be operated by Stobart Air through its franchise partnership with Flybe from next summer. It will fly four times per week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The route could provide a major boost to exporters in the South East, providing businesses with a direct route to the country’s largest port. The service is also likely to prove popular among those wanting something a little more exotic with Antwerp being well known for its fashion, diamonds, and chocolate.
A total of 15 routes will be operated from Southend, with extra seats to European cities such as Budapest, Cologne, Vienna and Prague and daily flights are also on offer to Prague. French destinations will include Rennes, Caen and Lyon and will have an additional 15,500 seats.
Flybe is currently operating two Q400 aircraft from Brussels Airport in Belgium on behalf of Brussels Airlines, but that contract expires on 28 October 2017.
