On 7 February, a Flybe Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 registered G-JECX took off from Manchester Airport (United Kingdom) to operate flight BE1265 to Luxembourg Airport. The pilots, however, declared an emergency after the left-hand engine failure. The pilots shut down the PW150 engine and diverted to Birmingham Airport; rescue services followed and inspected the aircraft after landing.
Passengers reported that there was a flash and a bang from the left-hand side of the aircraft, subsequently smoke appeared in the cabin. The emergency services found something leaking from the aircraft.
The passengers were rebooked onto alternative flights.
