The new owners of Eastern Airlines have cancelled an order for 20 Mitsubishi MRJ90s and waived purchase rights on another 20.
“The cancellation has been made after extensive discussion between Mitsubishi Aircraft and Eastern (EAL); we determined that cancellation was the best option for both parties,”
said Mitsubishi in a written statement.
“This is a matter having to do with the changes in EAL’s business configuration. After [its] sell-off to Swift Air, EAL returned [its] license (AOC) to FAA and has withdrawn from [the] aviation business.”
