Air Berlin forced to cancel 70 flights as pilots massively call in sick

Ailing airline Air Berlin is facing a new downturn as this morning an exceptional high number of pilots called in sick, the airline was forced to cancel 70 flights. Around 7,000 passengers have been affected, the airline informed their passengers not to come to the airport and to call the airberlin Service Center. The massive sick leave both affect Air Berlin flights as well as flights operated for Lufthansa’s Eurowings.

airberlin is currently seeing an exceptional high number of sickness reports of their pilots.

Bild newspaper has reported the reason for the pilot revolt: the negotiations on the transfer of 1,200 Air Berlin pilots to the potential new buyer were aborted by the management on Monday.
