Zurich Airport recorded solid growth in March 2026, with passenger numbers rising to 2.47 million, an increase of 4.9% compared to the same month last year.
Local passengers accounted for the majority of traffic, totalling approximately 1.64 million, while transfer passengers represented a significant 33.6% share, underlining Zurich’s role as a key European hub.
Operational performance also improved. Aircraft movements increased by 2.7% to 21,492 take-offs and landings, while the average number of passengers per flight rose to 130. The average seat load factor reached 77.2%, up 2.1 percentage points year-on-year, indicating stronger demand and more efficient capacity utilisation.
In contrast to passenger growth, cargo volumes declined. Freight throughput fell by 3.6% to just under 40,000 tonnes, reflecting ongoing volatility in global trade flows and air cargo demand.
Overall, the March figures highlight continued strength in passenger traffic at Zurich Airport, even as cargo performance remains under pressure.
