Flughafen Wien AG reported a positive start to 2026, with revenue rising 6.1% to €239.6 million and net profit increasing 5.3% to €42.0 million in the first quarter. Strong gains in EBITDA and EBIT were driven by higher passenger activity, non-aviation revenue, and one-off effects such as weather-related de-icing income and strike-related traffic shifts.
Passenger traffic grew 5.3% across the wider group (including Malta and Košice airports), reaching 8.3 million travellers, while Vienna Airport itself saw a more modest 1.6% increase in Q1. However, trends diverged later in the period: Vienna traffic declined slightly due to reduced low-cost carrier capacity and geopolitical uncertainty, while Malta and Košice continued strong growth.
The group expects around 41.5 million passengers in 2026 overall, with about 30 million at Vienna Airport. Despite some headwinds, financial guidance remains unchanged, supported by cost control measures and stable demand outlook.
A major investment programme of around €1.5 billion by 2030 is underway, including terminal expansion, new office space, and additional airport infrastructure in Vienna and Malta. The company also highlighted a summer schedule offering around 200 destinations and continued network expansion by major airlines.
Management emphasised that regulatory improvements—such as lower aviation taxes—would be needed to sustain long-term growth, particularly in Vienna, where capacity constraints and airline reductions are expected to weigh on performance.
