Vienna Airport cargo volume up 8% in Q1 2025, driven by belly freight surge

Share

Vienna Airport handled 73,280 tonnes of cargo in the first quarter of 2025, marking an 8% increase year-over-year. April alone saw a 13% rise, totalling 26,999 tonnes. Growth was largely fueled by a 16% surge in belly cargo on passenger flights, offsetting a decline in freighter volumes.

Pharma cargo also grew modestly by 3%, reaching 913 tonnes. Exports from Vienna rose 16% to 35,334 tonnes, while imports edged up 1% to 37,946 tonnes.

Leveraging its central European location and 24/7 operations, Vienna Airport remains a key cargo hub, supported by ten Category F aircraft stands and strong road feeder networks.
