Police shoot and kill knife-wielding man outside St. Louis Lambert Airport

Share

A man was fatally shot by police early Friday outside a terminal at St. Louis Lambert International Airport after advancing on officers while wielding a knife, authorities said.

St. Louis County Police spokesperson Vera Clay said officers encountered the man around 1 a.m. in an area off-limits to the public and repeatedly directed him to leave. When he displayed a knife, officers deployed Tasers, but the man continued to move toward them, prompting one officer to open fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported, and the man has not yet been identified. The incident occurred near the airport’s light-rail access point, outside the secure area.
