The security agents could carry out actions in the different airports of Belgium as of Saturday, at the beginning of the Easter school holidays, said the FGTBABVV trade union. The workers demand better pay for the workload and the atypical schedules they are subjected to. They also want higher pay for Saturday, Sunday and night services as well as for their callback bonus.

The management of the companies active in the sector (mainly Securitas and Group 4) made proposals last week, particularly regarding the security personnel working in baggage and passengers screening. However, these proposals are considered insufficient by the workers’ representatives, explains Mathieu London of the FGTB/ABVV.

It is now up to the delegates present at the various airports to organise autonomously actions, which could start across the country on Saturday.

A strike notice of one month, filed by unions active in the airport security sector, expires Friday. A new meeting between unions and management is scheduled for Thursday. Employers could come with new proposals.
