This week the Italian Guardia di Finanza (Fiscal and Customs Police) arrested two Rome Fiumicino airport employees for taking smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices from Lost and Found and unclaimed luggages. The Guardia di Finanza released a video footage from security cameras.

The investigations conducted by the Guardia di Finanza started following allegations of theft after several passengers reclaimed their lost luggages at the lost and found desk. The police could identify two employees with access to the unclaimed baggage center at the airport. The two are working for an unknown handling agent. Their airport badge was immediately revoked until further investigations. Every year Rome Fiumicino handles 40 million passengers, around 40,000 people are working at Italy’s biggest airport.
