Three Second World War bombs discovered at Ciampino Airport, air traffic disrupted

During maintenance works on the apron at Ciampino Airport (Rome), three Second World War bombs were discovered. The airport authorities quickly evacuated aircraft and terminal buildings to allow bomb workers to carry out the necessary works to safely remove the bombs. The airport hopes to reopen at 18:00 (UTC +1).

During the suspension of flights, arriving and departing traffic at Ciampino airport may be delayed/disrupted. Some flights might operate to and from Fiumicino airport. Passengers are requested to contact their airline for detailed flight information.

Further updates will be provided in real time on the Aeroporti di Roma website.
