Perth Airport plans major expansion in 2026

Share

Perth Airport is embarking on a $5 billion “one airport” transformation, driven by record passenger numbers and a new 2026 Master Plan, aimed at boosting capacity for a projected 30 million annual passengers by 2046.
Key projects include a new runway, a major Terminal 2 upgrade, and the first on-site Pullman Hotel.

Key 2025-2026 Developments

  • Master Plan 2026: Draft plans were released in late 2025, detailing a major investment in infrastructure to handle rapid growth, with the public comment period closing in late December 2025.
  • Major Infrastructure Investment: A $5 billion investment, supported by a landmark agreement with Qantas, will see a new terminal and runway built, creating a “one airport” precinct.
  • Terminal 2 Expansion: Upgrades are underway to double capacity, including new self-service kiosks and expanded baggage handling.
  • Construction Impacts: Significant works are occurring, and the Dunreath Drive Viewing Platform is closed for construction from January 5, 2026, to May 2026.
  • Record Growth: The airport continues to experience high demand, with significant increases in passenger numbers, driven partly by the WA resources sector.
