Severe winter weather is set to significantly disrupt air travel in the Paris region on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, with major cancellations announced at the capital’s two largest airports. By contrast, Beauvais-Tillé Airport will avoid cancellations, although delays are expected.
France’s Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot confirmed on Tuesday that airlines will be required to cancel around 40% of scheduled flights at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport between 9:00 and 14:00, due to fresh snowfall. At Paris Orly Airport, 25% of flights will be cancelled between 6:00 and 13:00. The measures are linked to runway snow clearance operations and extensive aircraft de-icing requirements.
At Beauvais-Tillé Airport, which serves mainly low-cost carriers, no flight cancellations have been ordered. However, operational delays are affecting some services. For example, a flight to Marrakech initially scheduled for 16:45 has been postponed to 20:30, primarily due to aircraft de-icing procedures. Authorities indicated that no cancellations are currently expected at the Picardy airport.
The snowfall has also had broader transport impacts, with school bus services suspended on Wednesday, adding to regional disruption.
Earlier in the week, following the first snowfall on Monday afternoon, France’s civil aviation authority (DGAC) had already instructed airlines to cancel 15% of flights at Charles de Gaulle and Orly. With weather conditions deteriorating, restrictions have now been significantly tightened.
