XL Airways, a French long-haul airline, is facing financial problems, said French website “Tour Hebdo”, as the airline stopped selling tickets and is going to request its judicial redress at Bobigny, France.
Is another (French) airline going to bite the dust? At least, it seems. After Aigle Azur collapsed nearly 2 weeks ago, XL Airways was the other French airline facing financial difficulties during the summer peak of 2019.
An extraordinary works council was convened earlier today, for “information and consultation on the filing of a declaration of cessation of payments and a request for the initiation of a judicial redress proceeding” says Tour Hebdo.
XL Airways has stopped selling tickets as from this evening.
Takeover offers have to be sent until 27 September, as the airline can’t continue to fly later than 26 September 2019 in the evening with the current treasury.
The airline employs 570 people and has a fleet of 4 Airbus A330s.
They need €35M to survive.
