Heavy storms across Mallorca have caused significant delays at Palma’s Son Sant Joan Airport, with some flights experiencing up to seven-hour delays. Passengers are crowding the terminal’s food areas as they await updates, with airlines rescheduling flights on short notice.
Today’s schedule included 865 flights, and delays of two to three hours are common, though longer delays are also reported. The storms, which prompted an orange alert from meteorologists, have also caused local flooding and road blockages across the island.
Despite the disruptions, there have been no reported flight diversions to alternate airports.
