A 44-year-old Austrian passenger has been arrested by Spain’s Guardia Civil after allegedly sexually assaulting a flight attendant following a flight from Munich to Palma de Mallorca on 3 June.
According to authorities, the incident occurred as passengers were disembarking at Palma Airport. The suspect allegedly attempted to kiss and physically restrain the flight attendant while she was working at the gate area. The victim reportedly pushed him away and immediately reported the incident, receiving assistance from another passenger before filing a formal complaint with airport police.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect using a combination of passenger information, seat assignments, and CCTV footage of disembarkation. He was later located and arrested at a hotel in El Arenal, where he was staying with companions from the same flight.
The suspect was brought before a court in Palma and reportedly admitted to the offence during a summary procedure. He accepted a fine of €360 and subsequently returned to Austria.
Authorities noted that the passenger had also been involved in disruptive behaviour during the flight, including alleged harassment of cabin crew and other passengers.
The case highlights the continued enforcement actions by Spanish authorities against in-flight and airport-related misconduct, particularly incidents involving harassment or assault of airline staff.
