Severe thunderstorms caused significant flight disruptions in both Sweden and Norway on Sunday.
At Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, several incoming flights were diverted, and a Greece-bound plane was forced to return shortly after takeoff due to a minor technical issue. Operations resumed normally by 17:20.
Meanwhile, north of Oslo Gardermoen Airport, thunderstorms led to three Norwegian flights—arriving from Trondheim (DY769, B737-800 reg. LN-DYM), Brussels (DY1247, Boeing 737-800 reg. LN-ENM), and Bardufoss (DY-335, Boeing 737-800 reg. LN-ENO)—being redirected to Sandefjord Torp Airport. Some planes circled while waiting to land, and passengers faced delays and uncertainty.
Norwegian Airlines warned of potential follow-on delays and apologised for the inconvenience, noting difficulties in arranging ground transport.
