A ground employee working for Delta Air Lines died Thursday night after an airport tug vehicle crashed into a jet bridge at Orlando International Airport.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the tug struck the jet bridge where Delta Flight DL2593 (A321 reg. N324DX to Minneapolis) was parked at around 22:55 local time. Passengers were evacuated through the aircraft’s rear door using airstairs.
Delta confirmed the employee was working at the time of the accident and said it is supporting the victim’s family and Orlando-based staff while cooperating with investigators.
Airport operations were temporarily halted following the crash, and one departing flight was cancelled, with affected passengers rebooked onto other services.
An airport spokesperson expressed condolences on behalf of the Orlando airport community, calling the deceased worker part of its “extended airport family.”
The Orlando Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident.
