A woman has been arrested after allegedly making a bomb threat at Nuuk International Airport, prompting a full evacuation of the terminal and a major police response.
Greenland Police said the report was received at 15:32 on Tuesday, triggering established emergency procedures. Officers cleared the airport and launched an investigation while securing the site.
Police chief Aqqalu Petersen confirmed that a suspect is in custody and that authorities are now assessing whether she should be formally detained.
Officials stressed that making bomb threats — or even discussing explosives in an airport environment — is treated as a serious offence. The suspect is expected to face legal consequences, including at a minimum a financial penalty.
Authorities added that the response follows standard protocol applied across all airports in Greenland, involving immediate arrest, investigation and questioning in such cases.
The situation remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
