Munich Airport with own presence at transport logistic trade fair – MUC airfreight segment stays on growth path

Munich Airport will be presenting itself as a cargo gateway at this year’s Air Cargo Europe, the world’s largest air cargo trade fair. The event is taking place in Munich under the auspices of the 15th edition of transport logistic from May 5–8, 2015. With 352 square meters of exhibition space – the largest stand at the fair (Hall B1, Stand 201/302) – Munich Airport and its cooperating partners United Cargo, Air Canada Cargo, Oman Air Cargo, Yangtze River Express, a. hartrodt and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics will offer information on their freight services and facilities.

In 2014 Munich Airport achieved significant growth in the cargo segment, with total cargo turnover of 309,000 tons, including airmail. Co-loaded freight was up 5.8 percent on the previous year, and the freight only segment posted a massive 22.7 percent increase. The highly pleasing trend continued into the first quarter of 2015, with an above-average increase of 6.2 percent in co-loaded freight and an 18.2 percent rise in freight-only tonnage as compared with Q1 2014.

To ensure that it is positioned to keep pace with the steadily rising demand in the future, Munich Airport is continuously expanding its freight infrastructure and the available services. Since March 31, the Chinese cargo airline Yangtze River Express has operated five weekly flights connecting the Munich hub to the Chinese cities of Tianjin and Shanghai. AirBridgeCargo already offers two weekly connections to seven Asian destinations via Moscow, and will add Hanoi as a new destination with the start of this year’s summer timetable. Mahan Air also launched a new service in March with three weekly departures from Munich to Tehran. Kuwait Airlines will be flying from Munich to Kuwait City starting in July. The new joint venture between Lufthansa Cargo and ANA Cargo will also offer time and cost savings to cargo customers in Munich.

To spread the news of its extensive range of services and efficient airfreight infrastructure, Munich Airport has produced a new image film. To view it, click the link below:
