Heavy snowfall has forced Munich Airport, the second-busiest hub in Germany, to cancel all flights until tomorrow (3 December) at 06:00 local time. The entire region of southern Bavaria has been submerged by snow, with public transport also suspended.
Lufthansa, the biggest operator of the airport, warns passengers not to come to the airport and to check flight status online. Originally, the airport was expected to operate this afternoon, albeit with heavy disruptions.
But around noon, the airport authorities decided to cancel its operations until tomorrow morning. Munich Airport tweeted: “Due to the continuing heavy snowfall, there will be no air traffic probably until 06:00 tomorrow, Dec 3. Please do not travel to the airport today and check the status of your flight with your airline before travelling to the airport tomorrow.”
The following tweet on social media platform X, yesterday evening, indicates the severity of the situation.
