Maastricht Aachen Airport is preparing for a sharp rise in air traffic early this week as a three-day strike by Belgian unions forces airlines to divert flights.
With Belgian airspace affected Monday through Wednesday, Qatar Airways will reroute four Las Vegas flights to Maastricht on Monday for brief stopovers, while Wednesday will see eight Wizz Air passenger flights and eight cargo services from Qatar Airways and LATAM Cargo.
The airport says it is mobilising staff across departments—including firefighters and office personnel—to manage the unusual surge in operations.
