Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST) is reinforcing its position as the Netherlands’ second-largest cargo hub, with freight volumes up 15% year-on-year through July and new growth secured by partnerships with leading carriers.
Turkish Cargo will expand its operations at MST from September, adding a third weekly Boeing 777 freighter flight on its Quito–Bogotá–Miami–Istanbul route, transporting flowers, vegetables, and other goods.
My Freighter, an Uzbek newcomer to the airport, has launched twice-weekly Boeing 767-300 services linking Shanghai, Tashkent, Almaty, and Maastricht, carrying e-commerce, automotive, and perishable cargo.
These developments build on recent momentum, including charter flights from Atlas Air and the return of Ethiopian Cargo, which now operates twice-weekly Boeing 777 services between Hong Kong, Addis Ababa, and Maastricht.
Dean Boljuncic, Head of Commercial Development, highlighted MST’s flexible “one-stop-shop” model, AEO-certified customs clearance, and innovations like FlowerWatch temperature monitoring that safeguard the quality and shelf life of perishables — a vital service for the floriculture and agricultural sectors.
With no slot restrictions, Fifth Freedom rights, and recognition as a key part of Royal Schiphol Group’s cargo strategy, Maastricht Aachen Airport is positioned for continued growth as a specialised, fast, and reliable European freight hub.
