London Heathrow Airport welcomed over 7.2 million passengers in May 2025—its busiest May on record—boosted by a strong late bank holiday. In the 12 months to the end of May, the airport served 84 million passengers, reflecting sustained demand.
New York JFK became the first Heathrow route to surpass 1 million passengers in 2025, followed closely by Dubai. Southern European destinations—Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Cyprus—saw double-digit growth. The Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham also caused a surge in traffic on the Bilbao route.
Passenger satisfaction remained high, with over 95% rating their experience as good or excellent and 99% of security queues kept under five minutes. CEO Thomas Woldbye highlighted Heathrow’s operational improvements and infrastructure investments, but warned that the airport is at capacity. He emphasised the need for expanded capacity to meet growing demand while maintaining service quality.
