More than half (53%) of London Gatwick’s Gen Z passengers (aged 16–24) travelled to the airport by train in Q1 2025, up from 47% in 2024. This outpaces the overall passenger average of 44%, highlighting younger travellers’ preference for sustainable transport.
London Gatwick, the UK’s best-connected airport by rail with direct links to over 120 stations, has invested £45 million in train connectivity and a major station redevelopment.
With up to 19 trains per hour to London and direct services to cities such as Brighton, Cambridge and Reading, the airport says Gen Z is leading a shift toward greener, more efficient airport access.
