Several inbound flights are currently holding around London Gatwick airport as the airport authorities were forced to close the airfield again after another drone sighting. It’s now the third consecutive day that drones are hindering safe air travel. The last departing traffic was an easyJet Airbus bound for Toulouse.
“Gatwick is investigating reports of a drone sighting. As a precaution we have suspended airfield operations,” the airport tweeted.
ALERT: PILOT AT LGW CONFIRMED DRONE ACTIVITY FLIGHTS SUSPENDED
A forum topic has been created to discuss the drone sightings.
Update 18:30 (UTC): “Flights have now resumed. Airfield movements were suspended while we investigated this as safety remains our main priority. The military measures we have in place at the airport have provided us with reassurance necessary to re-open our airfield.”
